    1. Dear Uche,

  2. Hi Kabura, I commend ANA for her effort over d years. All d same, help me tell dem that they need to do a lot more 2 reflect a supposed true spirit of ANA. They should strategize more ways of encouraging youth creativity; possibly diversify, de-localize and increase d awards. Other NGOs researching on youth development should equally try encouragin youth creative writing. It is a proficient aspect of youth development with a hitech cure for illiteracy, poverty and social vices. The pschology of our young people dat is greatly influenced by d mention of d likest of CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHE is a good example. The meaning of such name to young people is hard work, creativity, success, joy, pride, patriotism, and d likes. But why must ANA, the youth-oriented NGOs and indeed, Nigeria wait for Britain, USA, or China, to discover these young people before they suddenly wake up to sing their praises, yet we claim to have youth development occupy priority position in our governmental and organisational plans? Well, i dont want to reiterate dat CHIMAMANDA and co are brand ambassadors of Nigeria d world over because it’s a market truth. Nobody ‘rebrands’ Nigeria more than them! ANA should have a rethink on perenial celebration of literary old soldiers and consider young talents. I’m aware dat whether they are encouraged or not, they continue to sing in their obscurity but believe you me, they would develop faster and become more useful to society if they are encouraged. ANA and indeed, should try effective and dedicated reprioriting for true growth and development. Possibly, open a forum where by their works are collated and appraised. It must not be awards. Ejiofor Ugwu, Eng.& Lit Studies Dept. UNN.

    1. Yes, if you read the call again, you will see that ANA does accept unpublished works in some actegories of the prizes, eg ANA/NDDC Gabriel Okara Prize for Poetry.

  3. Thank you Kabura for this wonderful platform.
I can’t find the deadline for the submission of entries.

If the entries are staged already but not published, will they be disqualified?

Please extend your board to include ANA officials so they could reason with you when answering our questions.

    Thanks for this good job
