FG to re-introduce toll gates on Lagos-Ibadan road, others

THE Federal Government is planning to re-introduce tolling of selected roads and bridges across the country.  Some of the roads and bridges marked for tolling in the first phase of the programme include the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, a new bridge across River Niger at Asaba-Apakun.

Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen, stated this yesterday in a speech at a one-day forum on roads and bridges held in Abuja.  Represented by the Minister of State for Works, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, Onolememen said the policy would enable government to grow the economy, bring services to the communities and ensure safety of road-users.

  1. Nigeria! Always taking three steps back for every one step forward! Millions were spent in demolishing toll gates a few years back. Millions will be spent to build new ones. Then someone will come and spend millions to pull them down. Ad nauseum! Nigeria, we hail thee!
