UNDP wants FG to create jobs

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has urged the Federal Government to come up with lasting solutions on how to redress youth unemployment as part of measure to tackling insecurity in the country.

UNDP Country Director Ade Mamonyane-Lekoetje gave the advice yesterday in Abuja at a one-day conference to commemorate the 2012 International Youth Day organised by the Democratic Governance for Development (DGD) Project. The conference has the theme “Youth Political Participation – Setting an Agenda for Good Governance and Sustainable Democracy in Nigeria.”

David Ross of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), who spoke on behalf of DGD international partners, noted that the Arab Spring was sustained by youth and urged the Federal Government to engage the youth by engaging them in policy formulations and implementations.
