Fresh Constitution Review Begins Soon, Says Senate

The National Assembly will kick-start a fresh move to further amend the 1999 Constitution as soon as it is through with the passage of the 2012 Appropriation Bill, which is expected to roll out of the legislative mill anytime from now, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba (PDP, Cross River Central), dropped this hint in Abuja yesterday, when he received the leadership of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) led by its President, Joseph Daodu, in his office. “The constitution amendment process will start again as soon as we finish passing the 2012 Budget,” the Senate Leader said, adding that the reform of the Electoral Act is also on-going,” he said.
