Bombings: Activists advise Jonathan to sit up or resign

Human Rights Writers’ Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) yesterday advised President Goodluck Jonathan to either protect life and property of Nigerians or quit office. HURIWA, in a statement by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the Director of National Media Affairs, Miss. Zainab Yusuf, said the inability of the President to stop the bombings was worrisome.

The statement reads: “The rights group demanded effective sanction from the Federal Government for Military Commanders and Commissioners of Police in whose commands successful bombing operations take place to serve as effective deterrent and make them to wake up to their constitutional duty of protecting lives and property of Nigerians. “He charged President Jonathan to buy the current technology from the western powers that are capable of automatically detecting improvise explosive devices before they are planted by the perpetrators of terrorism…
