Gunmen bombed a police station on Sunday in Kano, leading a one hour gun battle with security operatives, police and witnesses said. Also, two gunmen, who were suspected to be members of the fundamentalist group, killed a policeman in Kaduna. The gunmen, who were said to be riding on a motorcycle, shot and killed the policeman, said to be an investigator at the Rigassa area of the city.
“We were able to push them out of the area but they burnt part of the police station,” Kano Police Commissioner Ibrahim Idris said. “It was a blast that caused damage to the station.” Witnesses said gunmen and the police were in a shoot out for around an hour after the explosion at the police station at Naibawa district outside Kano.
“We are scared. The police and Boko Haram members are battling each other and there is gunfire everywhere,” Usman Bello, a resident told Reuters.
