FG cautions against panic mass movements

The Federal Government yesterday warned that citizens, who engage themselves in an unwarranted panic mass movement following threats by the Boko Haram do so at their own risk, as it has directed security agents, who are now working round the clock to ensure that Nigerians everywhere in the country are safe. The Boko Haram sect had over two weeks ago, issued a three-day ultimatum for all Southerners and Christians in the North to relocate to the South, as well as Northerners in the South, to return to the North, which had led to several Nigerians engaging in mass movements across the country.

However, the Defence Minister, Dr. Bello Mohammed, in an interactive session with defence correspondents in Abuja, said there were no reasons for such panic and mass movements by Nigerians, describing the threat as a mere act of cowardice. Stating that it was clear from the Nigerian constitution that Nigerians were at liberty to freely move and settle at any place of their choice in the country, the minister said that terrorist groups or individuals, would be mistaking to dream that government could sit and watch them carryout such criminal threats with impunity.
