2 killed, 6 injured as Police shoot protesters in Niger

Two persons were killed while six others sustained various degrees of injuries when a team of policemen attacked a group of youth during an anti-fuel subsidy removal protest rally in Lambatta town of Gawu Babangida Local Government Area of Niger state. The group was on the highway in Lambatta town when the police reportedly opened fire on them. Two of the protesters, Yahaya Adamu Ciroma and Rabi’u Abubakar, who were shot by the police, eventually died before reaching hospital for medical intervention. A 24-hour curfew was imposed on Wednesday in all the 25 local government areas of the state.
