The House of Representatives said yesterday that it would commence exhaustive deliberation and consultation with relevant stakeholders on the removal of fuel subsidy when it reconvenes next week. The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Victor Ogene, said the House had taken note of the decision of the executive arm of government regarding the total removal of subsidy on petroleum products and the subsequent reaction of a cross section of Nigerians to the decision. He said the House of Representatives had not taken any definite decision on the subsidy matter before it proceeded on recess on December 20, 2011. The lawmaker assured all Nigerians that the outcome of the proposed debate would reflect the views of majority of the lawmakers and the aspirations of their constituents.
