How Nigeria can beat economic gloom, by Okonjo-Iweala

AS countries across the world reel under the global economic meltdown, Minister of Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has stated that Nigeria must embrace innovation to pull out of the woods. Okonjo-Iweala also charged Nigerians to cooperate with the current federal administration as it strives to transform the country. The minister stated this over the weekend while delivering the pre-convocation lecture of the Abia State University’s (ABSU).

Okonjo-Iweala stressed that the world economy was under stress, hence, “people have to develop new ways of doing old things.” She added: “The challenge before the world today is how to continue growing without harming the environment. The shift to sustainable investment for both the public and private sectors is productive infrastructure, technology transformation, science, education and human development. This means that sustainability of future growth will rely critically on innovative ways of using natural resources and providing services”.
