…says if you’re not with us, don’t be against us
The Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad also known as Boko Haram yesterday threatened to launch “endless and violent attacks” on Kano and its environs over what it called arbitrary arrest and persecution of its members. In an email message believed to have been authored by the spiritual leader of the sect, Imam Abubakar Shekau and sent to journalists in Borno yesterday, the sect maintained that it would attack Kano State unless urgent steps were taken to stop the arrest of its members.
The sect said it had earlier released an open letter to the people of Kano, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata and Khalifa Sheikh Isiaka Rabiu, among others, on the grave implications of the arrest of its members by the security agencies in the state…
“We have varied opinions about Kano, including the option of launching endless campaign of violence but the scholars that have been talking to us over and over are still persuading us to tarry a while. We are compelled to write this open letter so that the world will know what is happening. “We want to re-emphasize that our main objective is the restoration of Sharia legal system in line with the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. We want the Nigerian Constitution to be abrogated and democracy suspended and a full fledged Islamic state established.
